
The PMPEI Outstanding Planning Education Achievement Award is named for George W. Fasic,AICP (1931-2021). Planning education was the core of his 65-year career in planning. He was an original Instructor when the PA Municipal Planning Education Institute was established in 1992 and was a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Institute.
As planning director in Berks, Union, and Chester counties, and director of The Bucknell University Institute for Regional Affairs, he mentored scores of planners who are today’s leaders in the profession. For many years he was Professor of Planning and Geography at West Chester University, and taught at Bucknell University, Susquehanna University, Albright College, and Penn State University. He endowed the George Fasic Planning Endowment which supports students majoring in planning at West Chester University. His legacy in planning education continues with each recipient of this Award.
The George Fasic Outstanding Planning Education Achievement Award is provided to recognize officials demonstrating a commitment to planning education by completing all four of PMPEI’s core courses: Community Planning, Subdivision and Land Development Review, Zoning, and Zoning Administration.
